A private tutor was shot dead in Dwarka area of west Delhi by five persons, of whom three have since been arrested, police said on Tuesday.
Police said Surender Kumar was returning to his Gurugram home after taking tuition classes around 10 p.m. on Monday when five motorcycle-borne assailants intercepted his car at a traffic light point in Dwarka Sector-22 and fired over a dozens rounds at him.
Surender received 12 bullet wounds and died on the spot, Deputy Commissioner of Police Surender Kumar said.
Umesh Yadav, Sonu Yadav and Rajesh, residents of old Gurugram, were arrested from the Haryana town for the killing.
"We are interrogating them to ascertain the reason behind the crime. The accused had earlier tried to attack Surender's friend Hemant, who too takes tuition classes in Dwarka and Gurugram but he escaped," the police officer said.
