Three members of a family were shot dead on Friday in Bihar's Lakhisarai district over a land dispute, police said.

"The victims were identified as Ramsekhar Singh, 65, his son Jhalo Singh, 40, and his nephew Ripu Singh, 35. This incident in Pokhrama village appears to be a result of land dispute" Lakhisarai Superintendent of Police Arvind Thakur said.

"Two bodies were found in a field and the third near a road," Thakur said.

Tension prevailed in the village after the incident. Additional security forces were deployed to maintain law and order.

No arrests have been made so far.
