At least three militants were killed and six injured Saturday during airstrikes in Pakistan's Khyber Agency region, a media report said.

According to officials, the militants had occupied a government school in Bara Malakdin Khel area which was targeted by the helicopters in an attempt to destroy it, Dawn online reported.

The Pakistan army launched operation 'Zarb-i-Azb' in the tribal region of North Waziristan, a week after an attack on Karachi's Jinnah International Airport, deploying troops, tanks and jets to crackdown Taliban and other militants.

Around 235 militants have been killed since the start of the operation and many hideouts were also destroyed.

Nearly 150,000 people have left North Waziristan tribal area on the Afghan border this week after the launch of the operation.
