At least three people were killed and 55 others injured in blasts and gun attacks in southern Thailand Saturday night.

At least 13 blasts were reported at around 7 p.m. local time in several localities in Muang district in Thai deep south province of Pattani, Xinhua reported.

Three 7-Eleven outlets, Provincial Electricity Authority (PEA) office, an electricity post and a petrol station in the district were hit in the blasts.

The entire district was left in a blackout following the attacks.

Since January 2004, separatist violence has plagued Thailand's Deep South, including three Muslim, ethnic-Malay dominated southern border provinces -- Yala, Pattani, Narathiwat -- and four districts of Songkhla.
