Three new polio cases in Pakistan

Three new polio cases have been reported in Pakistan, raising the total number of such cases to 187.

The health department officials have said the cases were registered in Bara tehsil of Khyber Agency in Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA), Dawn online reported Thursday.

As many as 130 polio cases have been reported from FATA this year.

According to officials, the number of polio cases is increasing every year.

Fifty-eight cases were reported in 2012 and 93 in 2013.

Pakistan stands at the top of the last three polio endemic countries in the world - the other two being Nigeria and Afghanistan.
