Three middle-aged tribal women allegedly committed suicide by consuming poisonous seeds in West Bengal's Bankura district, police said on Monday.
"Three women - Sumitra Mandi, Mamoni Hasda and Salomoni Tudu, all in their mid-30s, allegedly committed suicide by consuming Datura seeds in a field in (Bankura district's) Raipur late on Sunday," an officer from Raipur police station said.
According to police, the three women were relatives and had stayed out in the field on Sunday night.
"The locals found them laying senseless on the field on Monday morning and rushed them to Raipur hospital where they were declared dead," the officer said.
No injury marks were found on the body of the three deceased, police said.
"The bodies have been sent for autopsy. We are talking to the locals to identify the reason of them committing suicide," he added.

Parts of Datura plant, also known as Jimson weed are poisonous. The seeds and young leaves of the plant contain the highest amount of toxic alkaloids.
