Thundershowers bring mercury down in Himachal

Thundershowers and rain in most of Himachal Pradesh on Sunday brought some relief from the scorching heat, the weather department said. It has also forecast thundershowers in the state till Tuesday.

Shimla and nearby areas saw mild rain. "Most of the areas in the state saw rain and thundershowers, bringing the temperatures down by one to two degrees," an official of the meteorological office here told IANS.

Shimla recorded a maximum of 26.1 degrees Celsius as against Saturday's high of 27.9 degrees Celsius.

Likewise, Sundernagar in Mandi district recorded a high of 33.4 degrees Celsius, while it was 30.6 degrees Celsius at Bhuntar in Kullu district. The day temperature at Dharamsala in Kangra district stood at 30.4 degrees Celsius and in Kalpa in Kinnaur district at 19.8 degrees.

 

These towns Saturday recorded maximum temperatures of 37.3 degrees, 32.2 degrees and 33.4 degrees and 17.2 degrees Celsius, respectively.

Una was the hottest town in the state at 38.4 degrees Celsius.

Keylong in Lahaul and Spiti district was the coldest in the state with a low of 5.1 degree Celsius.
