Shop for ethnic wear in vibrant colours and elaborate embroidery as it is the autumn-winter fashion trend, says an expert.

Pradeep Katyal, CEO of online store for ethnic wear Utsavfashion.com, says that velvet traditional outfits will remain favourite this season.

"Ankle length Anarkalis can be worn in rich velvet because the next trend in limelight is this aristocratic fabric. Velvet stays forever as fall favourite. To keep you warm during the winter chills while maintaining the regal factor simultaneously, go for velvet," Katyal said in a statement.

For more variety, wear saris with velvet pallus or lehenga with velvet choli blouse.

He says bright colours will continue to dominate.

"The eye-catching combination of tangerine and blue is a colour trend not to be missed in autumn-winter 2013. Striking choli in tangerine brocade teamed up with a blue A-Line lehenga would be the perfect combination for the winter wedding season of this year," said Katyal.

There are options for those who want to try dark hues during the chilly season. Navy blue will compliment the cold weather but he suggests choosing a different shade of blue.

"Although navy is still on-trend for fall, there is a new shade of blue which is highly picking up in the trend chart - cobalt blue," he said.

Traditional apparel is known for embroidery work and Katyal says ethnic fashion will be more extravagant which will reflect in the form of embroidery work.

"Zardozi and gota work are going to be big this fall-winter. Don't be surprised if the fine detailing of embellishments explode onto elaborate embroidery because the trend in term of Indian ethnic fashion is going to be more luxurious and extravagant," he said.
