Tamil Nadu Chief Minister K. Palaniswami on Wednesday said the state government will not give permission for hydrocarbon or natural gas exploration in Neduvasal village.
Palaniswami gave the assurance to a group of people protesting against the hydrocarbon project.
He said the state government has not issued any licence to commercially extract the natural gas at Neduvasal.
Farmers in the Neduvasal village in Pudukottai district are protesting against the natural gas extraction project as it would affect their livelihood as they feared it will dry up the ground water source besides polluting the soil.
