The Delhi government on Tuesday decided to remove the limit on quantity of pulses traders can stock so as to make these available to citizens at affordable prices, said Food and Supply Minister Imran Hussain.
Hussain said the decision will help in smooth supply and availability of pulses and is expected to bring down retail prices.
A notification on the decision has been issued by the Department of Food & Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs.
The minister said that the decision was taken after discussions with various stakeholders, including various grain merchant associations.
The central government recently asked various state governments, including of Delhi, to consider removal of stock limits on pulses, the minister said.
