Tokyo shares opened the trading Thursday lower, following declines in the overnight US stocks market after the US Federal Reserve's said it would scale back rate hikes.
At 9.15 a.m., the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average lost 209.23 points, or 1.22 percent, from Wednesday to 16,954.69, reports Xinhua.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange was down 13.75 points, or 0.98 percent, at 1,386.95.
