Tokyo stocks rose 1.84 percent in the morning session of Wednesday on bargain-hunting and expectation for further monetary easing by the bank of Japan.
The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average was up 312.37 points, from Tuesday to end the morning at 17,243.21, Xinhua news agency reported.
The broader Topix index of all first section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange gained 27.32 points (1.99 percent) at 1,402.84.
Gainers were led by financing business, insurance and chemicals.
