The country's top cyclists, including the 2013 National champion Arvind Panwar of the Railways, are in a field of 5,000 who will participate in the inaugural Vodafone Cycling Marathon to be held here Sunday.
The event is being organised under the aegis of Cycle Federation of India (CFI) and is supported by Bengaluru City Traffic Police.
Proceeds generated through registration for the event will be shared with Give India and utilized to support the work done towards the cause of environment, child education and women welfare.
The carnival arena of the Marathon will see performances by India's premier fusion rock band Indian Ocean, act by eminent arts and craft professional John Devaraj Group and cycle stunts by professionals, according to a release from the organisers.
The event will have four different categories - Champion Ride (60 km), Passion Ride (40 km), Green Ride (20 km) and Fun Ride (10 km).
Champion Ride will see 150 elite professional cyclists licensed under Cycle Federation of India who will compete for prize money of Rs.10 lakh with the winner receiving Rs.2.5 lakh.
