Toyota University cricket launched

The campaign, 'Ab Humari Baari Hai' is to encourage cricket at the university level thereby discovering, nurturing and promoting cricket talent.

Addressing the audience, HRD Minister M.M. Pallam Raju said: "I am happy that the

ministry is a part of this great initiative. Sports is an essential requirement in the process of development. This will help identify talent that can contribute to both the national and international levels."

NDTV Chairperson Prannoy Roy said: "NDTV has always supported education and sports through several very successful campaigns."

"Taking a big step forward, we are very pleased to announce the Toyota University Cricket Championship as a platform to nurture young talent in the field of cricket. We look to everyone to support and boost university cricket in India."

 

Sandeep Singh, DMD and COO, TKM said, "Toyota University Cricket Championship is a special project for us and we are very glad to encourage and promote university level cricket in India."

Shah Rukh said he learnt everything through sports and this in one of the finest initiatives and that he would do anything to promote it.

The TUCC is an extension of the Rohinton Baria inter-university tournament and will get underway this year.

The top eight teams from Rohinton Baria will will play in New Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore among other cities.

The participating teams for the 2013 Championship have been selected from the four zones. They are: Jamia Milia Islamia, Aligarh Muslim University, Awadhesh Pratap Singh University, Veer Bahadur Singh Purvanchal University, Mumbai University, Jiwaji University, University of Madras and Jain University.
