The government on Monday said the national capital-based Transport Bhawan will become the first government building to have an automated multi-level car parking facility.
Minister of Road Transport, Highways and Shipping Nitin Gadkari and Minister of Urban Development, Housing and Urban Poverty Alleviation and Parliamentary Affairs M. Venkaiah Naidu jointly laid the foundation stone for the new facility.
According to Gadkari, the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways is already working on several plans to decongest NCR (national capital region).
The automated parking lot project is being undertaken by NHIDCL (National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation), the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways said in a statement.
"The facility will comprise ground plus seven floors. Spread over an area of 314 sq metres and with a height of 22 metres, the facility will be able to house 112 cars," the statement said.
"The retrieving time for cars will be 120 seconds. The facility is being built by a Swiss Company."
