Eminent artists from the world of classical dance and music will come together on stage to pay tributes to India's first woman Prime Minister, Indira Gandhi on her 100th birth anniversary on Sunday.
Organised by the All India National Congress, the event, titled "Indira Priyadarshini", will be held at Nehru Park in Chanakyapuri to remind the people that Gandhi was not just a politician but also had keen interest, love and respect for India's rich cultural traditions and its music and dances.
The artists who will be performing are Odissi dancer Arushi Mudgal, Kathak dancer Eshani Agarwal, Sufi musician Mir Mukhtiyar Ali, Sattriya dancer Anwesa Mahanta, Bharatnatyam dancer Aranyani Bhargav and the Gandharava Choir, consisting of students of the Gandharva Mahavidyalaya.
"This is an endeavour to bring together art and culture to pay tribute to Indira Ji's memory and her rich contribution. The event will be graced by soulful performances by some well known young Indian artists from the classical music and the dance world and will bring forth the rich culture and the traditional music and dance forms of our nation which Indira ji promoted with passion," a statement from the All India National Congress said.
