Days after his mother was shot at in their home, the son of Trinamool Congress legislator Arjun Singh on Saturday expressed concern about his safety and filed a complaint against his cousin over the incident.

Pawan Singh also alleged that his father was hiding the truth.

"If something can happen to my mother, why not me?" Pawan Singh said after filing a complaint at Jagatdal police station in North 24 Parganas district against his cousin Sourav Singh for allegedly firing at his mother.

Usha Singh, the legislator's wife, was hit in her stomach by a bullet at her home in Jagatdal area on Wednesday. She is undergoing treatment at a hospital in Salt Lake.

Police confirmed that a complaint was lodged with them by Pawan Singh.

Arjun Singh, however, denied that his wife was shot at and claimed it was a freak accident. "There is no evidence of a bullet shot," he said.

Pawan Singh said: "I don't know why my father is saying this. Maybe he wants to sort out this matter within the family. But I remain firm with the FIR."
