Since its victory in the West Bengal assembly polls, the ruling Trinamool Congress has been spearheading attacks on Left supporters to eliminate the opposition, CPI-M state secretary Surjya Kanta Mishra said here on Saturday.
"The ruling party has no political will to curb the inhuman attacks on opponents. Instead the Trinamool is spearheading attacks aimed at eliminating the opposition," the Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M) leader said.
"Countless people have been attacked, and party and mass organisation offices are being vandalised since the announcement of the election results," Mishra added.
He said that over 500 local CPI-M offices have been attacked since Thursday.
Accusing the administration of implicating Marxist supporters in false cases, Mishra alleged that basic amenities like water were cut in corporation and municipal wards where Trinamool candidates lost.
