Trisha Sunil carded the only sub-par round of three under 69 to grab the lead on the second day of the third leg of the Hero Womens Professional Golf Tour at the Royal Calcutta Golf Club (RCGC) here on Thursday.

Bengaluru's Trisha had a shaky start, carding a bogey on the second hole, but a birdie on the fourth helped her finish with an even par front nine.

In her back nine, she dropped a shot on the 10th but quickly regained her composure and fired four birdies on the 12th, 14th, 16th and 17th to finish the second round with a total score of 145.

Overnight leader Gaurika Bishnoi could not replicate her first round performance and is placed second with a total score of 147 after the second round.

She would have hoped for a better start, as she carded a double bogey on the third hole followed by bogeys on the fourth, fifth and eighth, with a birdie on the sixth in her front nine.

She played with much more control on the way in and carded birdies on the 14th, 15th, 17th and 18th holes while dropping shots on the 13th and 16th, to end the day with a score of two over 74.

Local golfer Smriti Mehra too recorded a similar score in the second round to take the third place. Her lone birdie on the day came on the fourth hole, while she dropped shots on the fifth, eighth and 12th.

Neha Tripathi carded birdies on the 4th and 15th holes, while dropping shots on the fifth, eighth, 10th and 17th.

She also carded a double on the seventh hole to finish the round in fourth position with a total score of 150 after 36 holes.

Sharmila Nicollet was placed fifth with a total score of 151 after the second days play. Her card on the day included birdies on the sixth and seventh, with bogeys on the third and eighth. She also carded a double on the 16th.

New Delhi's Mehar Atwal, Chandigarh's Saaniya Sharma and Kapurthala's Gursimar Badwal are all tied sixth with a total score of 153, followed by Siddhi Kapoor in ninth position with a score of 157 and Jaipur's Afshan Fatima in 10th position with a score of 162 after 36 holes.
