A 59-year-old Delhi Police sub-inspector was killed and two policemen were seriously injured when an overspeeding truck rammed into their PCR van Tuesday, police said.
The accident took place in Mayur Vihar area on the Delhi-Noida border around 1.00 a.m. The truck was heading to Noida in Uttar Pradesh from Delhi.
Sub-inspector Subedar Khan, assistant sub-inspector Girdhari Lal and constable Aqeel Muhammed were sitting inside a Police Control Room (PCR) van when the overspeeding truck, carrying a container, hit a barricade and rammed into their vehicle, a police officer said.
"The impact was such that the truck dragged the van for a few metres before it climbed a guard rail on the roadside and finally stopped," the officer said.
Khan died while 50-year-old Lal and 46-year-old Muhammed sustained serious injuries, he said.
