The White House was transformed into a haunted house as US President Donald Trump with his wife Melania welcomed trick-or-treaters on his first Halloween in office.
Trump and the First Lady on Monday greeted some of the 6,000 children and adults who were invited to the party on Halloween eve, the US media reported.
Kids from over 20 schools in the District of Columbia, Maryland and Virginia attended the celebrations on the South Lawn along with military families and members of community organisations.
The first couple shook hands with and gave candy to a procession of youngsters including one child dressed up as Melania Trump herself, Fox news reported.
The girl donned a black cap with "FLOTUS" emblazoned on it like the one Melania wore to visit hurricane-stricken Texas in August.
She also wore a white shirt, black pants and sneakers like the ones the First Lady changed into after catching snark for wearing stilettos as she and the President first departed for Houston.

Melania grinned and looked amused when she saw the costume.
Other members of the Trump administration also dressed up for the occasion. Education Secretary Betsy DeVos dressed up as Ms Frizzle from the "Magic School Bus" book and TV series.
Keeping the Halloween theme alive, dark and spooky music played at the White House that was covered with black spider webs. The red carpet was replaced with an orange carpet and pumpkins decorated the south entrance.
A huge T-rex costume, a skeleton wearing a "Make America Great Again" sign and a minion were some of the popular costumes at the event. Trick-or-treaters received gift bags with presidential M&Ms, a home-baked cookies and several other treats.
White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders attended the event with her husband and her kids. Attorney General Jeff Sessions was also present.
