French tennis star Jo-Wilfried Tsonga has pulled out of the Australian Open starting Jan19 with an arm injury.
The 29-year-old has been struggling with injury for over a month and missed defending his title of the Hopman Cup.
"It is with great disappointment that I have to postpone today the start of my season, pulling out of the Australian Open," Tsonga said on Twitter Wednesday.
"I am still suffering from a forearm inflammation that prevents me being 100% in a competition."
World No.12, Tsonga reached the final of the 2008 Australian Open, but lost to No.1 Novak Djokovic and is twice a Wimbledon semi-finalist.
"I'm going to receive over three weeks all the needed treatments to be able to be back on track in the best conditions," he said.
