The Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) has met to decide on extending the ceasefire in Pakistan and the progress of peace talks with the government, a media report said Saturday.

The meeting was held at an undisclosed place in North Waziristan region late Friday, Dawn online reported.

The TTP, which says its previous demands have not been met, presented two conditions for the talks to continue - immediate release of non-combatant prisoners and declaration of a peace zone where the militants can freely move about.

Some members were in favour of extending the ceasefire for another short period.

The TTP had announced a month-long ceasefire March 1. This was extended until April 10 as the Pakistan government had released 19 non-combatant prisoners earlier this month as a goodwill gesture for bolstering the peace process.
