Delhi Lt. Governor Najeeb Jung Tuesday directed that the Guru Teg Bahadur (GTB) Hospital be turned into a model one and all its medical facilities be upgraded.
Jung visited the hospital and inspected its medical and infrastructural facilities. He examined all short- and long-term measures needed to turn it into a model hospital.
He visited the out patient department (OPD), diabetic, endocrine and metabolic care blocks, mother and child health wing and the pharmacy, among other facilities, in the hospital.
"Under medical distress, a doctor's healing touch can prove to be a miracle for the patients and their family members," Jung said highlighting the importance of the term 'care' in health and medical care.
"The pressure on existing medical facilities is increasing and hospitals must augment their infrastructure and services keeping their demand in mind," he added.
Jung also directed that the Lok Nayak Jaya Prakash Narayan Hospital also be turned into a model hospital.
The GTB Hospital, established in 1986, has a daily OPD footfall of 4,500 patients.
