Two BSF troopers injured in bomb blast in Manipur

Two Border Security Force troopers were wounded in a powerful bomb blast detonated using a remote control device at Changubung village in Senapati district, adjacent to Nagaland, on Monday.

The injured troopers, of 54 Bn Border Security Force, have been identified as Anil Kumar and Lalji Yadav. Both of them were rushed to hospital.

Later, another bomb weighing 1.5 kg was recovered at Chingdongyang village in the same district. It was neutralised inside the Leimakhong army camp.

In another incident, a combined team of Imphal west district police commandos and troopers of 25 Bn Assam Rifles seized one powerful bomb, which was being taken towards the Senapati district.

 

Vikramjit, the Additional Superintendent of Police (operations), told reporters that on receipt of a tip-off one passenger bus bearing registration No. MN01 1823 was intercepted. During search the bomb was found concealed in a rice bag. Police have arrested the bus driver and another man.

Vikramjit said the bomb weighed 3 kg and could have caused widespread damage and casualties. He, however, declined to disclose the name of the arrested persons saying that a few more persons are to be arrested.

A bomb blast in Imphal wounded one CRPF troopers and a 2 year-old-girl on Friday. Another bomb was found near the army office in Imphal on Saturday.
