Two children, who were in the captivity of the Maoist guerrillas for the last two years, have escaped in Jharkhand's Garwah district, police said on Wednesday.
"Two children who were in captivity at Budha Pahad managed to escape," said Deputy Inspector General of Police Vipul Shukla.
He said the children, a brother and a sister, managed to escape on Tuesday and reached their village. The police has taken the responsibility of the upbringing of both the children.
"Maoists are desperate and abduct children to get their work done," Shukla said.
