Donetsk (Ukraine), March 24 (IANS/EFE) Two children were killed in attacks launched by Ukrainian troops in eastern Ukraine, the command of the militia of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic claimed on Tuesday.
"A 10-year-old girl died on Monday in artillery fire in Petrovsky district of the city of Donetsk," a spokesman for the rebel command told DAN, the separatists' news agency.
He added that the second fatality, a 14-year-old child, died near the town of Gorlovka, northeast of the city of Donetsk.
According to the pro-Russian rebels, since the ceasefire in the conflict zone came into force on February 15, Ukrainian troops have violated the truce about 300 times, resulting in the death of 16 people and the injuries to 25 others.
The latest UN report estimated that more than 6,000 people have died, including civilians and combatants, in nearly a year of conflict in eastern Ukraine.
