Two Assistant Sub Inspectors (ASI) were attacked by a biker and a group of robbers in separate incidents early on Monday, police said, adding that two robbers have been arrested in one of the incidents.
The accused persons have been identified as Sunny and Sehzad who were arrested soon after the crime took place when a police team nabbed them from their hideout in an under-construction building.
The incident occurred at around 3 a.m. in Delhi's Burari area when a resident informed the Police Control Room (PCR) about three robbers who were trying to unlock a bike tied up with a chain.
"ASIs Amar Singh Rana and Yashpal reached the spot in a PCR van. Seeing the police, the robbers tried to flee. Two were held while their third accomplice managed to flee after a chase," Special Commissioner of Police (Operations) A.S. Gautam said.
"Sehzad tried to flee from the clutches of Amar Singh Rana and hit him with a brick. He then ran to hide in a nearby building. Yashpal immediately informed the control room following which a police team arrived at the spot and nabbed the accused," Gautam added.
In a similar incident, ASI Karan Kumar suffered a head injury after an unidentified biker pelted a stone at a PCR vehicle parked in Delhi's Connaught Place area.
"ASI Karan Kumar was sitting inside the police vehicle when the incident happened. The biker managed to escape from the spot. Kumar was taken to a hospital and was later discharged," Gautam said.
