Just days after two elephants were electrocuted, two more pachyderms were found dead in northern West Bengal Tuesday, forest officials said.
According to the officials, a sub-adult elephant was found dead in a paddy field in Upper Kalarabari near Morahat village of Banarhat.
The carcass of a female elephant was found lying in a field in Panjora village under Chapramari forest division of Jalpaiguri district.
After examining the carcasses, veterinarians confirmed that the female adult died due to electrocution while the other one died after consuming pesticide.
Two elephants, including a female, were electrocuted Oct 18 near Rakamjot in Siliguri in Darjeeling district.
