Two people were arrested for kidnapping and killing a seven-year-old boy here earlier this month, police said Tuesday.
Ashok Kumar, who hails from Uttar Pradesh's Kannauj and now lives in Kadipur area here, had filed a complaint with police that his son Sangam went missing while he was going to his tyre puncture shop Oct 1.
On Oct 5, Kumar received a call demanding Rs.1 lakh for Sangam's safe release.
Prahlad and Brijbhan, both from Kannauj, were arrested for kidnapping and killing the child.
"They abducted the child Oct 1 and killed him on the same day. They took him to a deserted area in Basai, strangulated him to death and dumped the body in the bushes there," said Joint Commissioner of Police Vivek Sharma.
The duo were arrested by crime branch team and are being questioned after being sent to police custody, he added.
