Two people were arrested and fake currency notes with a face value of Rs.5.89 lakh were seized from them in Bihar's Muzaffarpur district on Thursday.

The arrests were made by the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) when the two persons were on their way to deliver the counterfeit notes in East Champaran district, an official said.

They were identified as Ravinder Yadav and Munna Yadav - both residents of East Champaran.

DRI officials interrogated the duo, who were part of an international racket in counterfeit notes.

Police said the fake currency notes were smuggled from Bangladesh.
