Two Indian expatriates were killed in separate accidents in Oman's Nizwa and Salalah cities, a media report said.

In Nizwa, Muhammed Naufal, a 22-year-old worker from Kerala, died after a vehicle hit him while he was crossing a road on Friday. He died on the spot, the Times of Oman reported.

He arrived in Oman two weeks ago and was working as a salesman in a car spare parts shop in the city. His body has been kept in police mortuary. His brother, working in Muscat, has been informed, police said.

In the other case, an Indian passenger died when a garbage collection truck collided with a trailer in Salalah.

The victim, travelling in the truck, was identified as 35-year-old Abbas. He hailed from Maharashtra. The driver of the truck, who escaped with minor injuries, has been admitted to a hospital.

The impact of the collision was so intense that it took hours for police to extract the victims from the mangled shell of the truck, the report said.
