Two people were injured in two explosions that took place in West Bengal's Malda and Murshidabad districts, police said Thursday.

The blasts took place as the National Investigation Agency (NIA) probes the Oct 2 blast in West Bengal's Burdwan district.

The first explosion took place in a house in Hatichapa village in Malda district in which two people are injured while the other blast occurred inside a house in Samsherganj in Murshidabad district.

Police said the explosion occurred while attempting to remove crude bombs that had been stored.

"The blast in Hatichapa village occurred around Wednesday evening in which two people have been injured. Before we could reach there, the injured were shifted. We suspect some more people could be injured in the incident," said a police official.

The official said that ever since the NIA began the probe in Burdwan, "anti-socials and criminals who often store crude bombs are disposing them off resulting in such explosions".

In Murshidabad, the explosion ripped apart a portion of a house in Samsherganj area but no one was injured.

"We are looking into the cause of the explosion," said a police official.

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) is probing the Oct 2 blast in Khagragarh in Burdwan district in which two militants were killed.
