Two female polio workers were killed when gunmen attacked a polio-eradication team in Pakistan's northwest Peshawar city Tuesday, a media report said.
The attack happened at about 11:20 a.m. when the assailants sprayed bullets at the anti-polio team when it was on its routine vaccination campaign in the suburban Badbher area of Peshawar, capital of the country's northwest Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, reported Xinhua citing Urdu TV channel Samaa.
One woman was killed right at the spot while the other was shifted to Lady Reading Hospital in the city where she succumbed to bullet injuries.
Last year too polio workers were killed when Taliban militants attacked polio-eradication teams in several districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and the country's southern port city of Karachi.
