Two people were killed and one person was critically injured in a shooting in the Canadian province of Quebec, CBC News reported on Thursday
Quebec provincial police were searching an area in Marieville, after the shooting Wednesday evening.
Investigators have described the main suspect as a gunman with a high-powered weapon.
People on a rural stretch of road said they heard hearing gun shots at a scrapyard in the town, about 30 km east of Montreal shortly before 6 p.m., CBC News said.
Just after the gunshots were reported, police cordoned off a wide perimeter near the corner of Des Trente-six and Branche-du-Rapide roads.
Some homes in the area were evacuated Wednesday evening after residents were allowed to retrieve necessary items like medication under police escort.
Police gave not released the names of the victims.
