Two killed in south China blast

At least two people, including a woman, were killed and 34 injured in an explosion near a school in south China Monday morning.

The injured, among them schoolchildren and two infants, were taken to hospital where five patients were stated to be critical, reported Xinhua citing a statement issued by the health department.

The explosion occured in the morning around 7.10 a.m. when students were arriving at the Balijie Primary School in Lingwu county of Guilin, said Guilin authorities.

Some classrooms were damaged in the explosion and classes have been suspended.

The security team has been dispatched to Guilin. The police have launched a search for illegal explosives in the city.

 

Witnesses saw a man on a three-wheeled motorcycle at the school's entrance when the blast took place, reported Xinhua.
