Two killed in Uttar Pradesh as drunk driver hits vehicles

Two people were killed and five injured when a drunk driver rammed his vehicle into three others on National Highway 28 in Ghaziabad district of Uttar Pradesh, police said.

The incident occurred late Friday night in Murad Nagar town of Ghaziabad district, said Superintendent of Police (SP) Rakesh Pandey.

The driver, who has since been arrested and identified as Dilshad, first rammed his vehicle into an auto-rickshaw coming from the opposite direction, he said.

Two passengers, a woman Roshani (20) and a man Javed (33), travelling in the auto-rickshaw were declared dead upon being taken to hospital. The driver of the auto-rickshaw Nadeem was hospitalised in a critical condition, Pandey said.

 

Dishad next hit a vehicle whose driver Monu sustained injuries all over his body.

The third vehicle he hit was a motorcycle whose two riders Iqramuddin and Nafees sustained critical injuries, Pandey said.

"We have arrested the driver. He was found drunk during medical examination. Appropriate legal action is being taken against him," said Pandey.
