Rabat, July 26 (IANS/MAP) Two Moroccan peacekeepers from the United Nations mission in Central African Republic were killed in an ambush by suspected Christian militiamen.

The attack took place on Tuesday and the peacekeepers were attacked by suspected Christian anti-balaka militias in the town of Banagassou, 700 km east of the capital Bangui, the mission said in a statement.

It was the second deadly attack on Moroccan forces this week. One Moroccan peacekeeper was killed and three were injured in the earlier attack in the same city on the border with the Democratic Republic of Congo.

Several humanitarian organisations had suspended their activities after the violence in Bangassou, where fighting in May killed at least 115 people.
