Two Palestinian militants were killed Friday when an Israeli war jet struck their vehicle in Shatti refugee camp in western Gaza city, medics and witnesses said.
Ayman Sahabani, Gaza emergency chief, told Xinhua that the bodies of the dead militants were brought to a local hospital while witnesses claimed that at least one rocket was fired at a car moving inside the refugee camp.
Sources in the Islamic Jihad militant group in Gaza said the two dead men were their members.
Earlier this month, three Israeli teenagers disappeared in the West Bank and Israel accused Hamas of being involved, leading to growing tension between Gaza militants and Israel in the coastal area.
Militants have been firing more rockets into Israel while Israeli war jets were hitting back at both Hamas and the Islamic Jihad training facilities as well as their rocket launching sites.
In 2012 Israel ended an eight-day aerial offensive on the Gaza Strip after Egypt brokered a ceasefire between Israel and Gaza militants.
