Two Border Police officers were Friday stabbed near the Old City's Lions Gate in East Jerusalem.
The incident occurred when worshippers were leaving the Temple Mount complex after morning prayers, The Times of Israel reported.
The attacker approached one of the officers, 19, and stabbed him in the neck. Another officer, 35, came to his aid and was stabbed in the hand as he struggled with the assailant, police said. Both were slightly injured and fully conscious.
However, the attacker managed to escape. Security forces are conducting a search in the area.
Lions Gate, which leads into the Muslim Quarter, marks the beginning of the Via Dolorosa, the path that, according to Christian tradition, Jesus took on his way from prison to crucifixion.
