Hyderabad police Friday arrested two government employees from Seemandhra for allegedly attacking Telangana employees. They were later released on bail.

Police said the electrical engineers were arrested on a complaint by Telangana employees.

A case was booked at Panjagutta police station on Aug 24 against the two engineers for attacking Seemandhra employees at Vidyut Soudha, the headquarters of electricity department.

As the word spread about the arrests, other employees staged a protest demanding their release.

These were the first arrests of Seemandhra employees in Hyderabad since the protests began over July 30 decision of Congress Working Committee (CWC) to carve out separate Telangana state.

Vidyut Soudha is one of the government offices in Hyderabad witnessing protests and counter protests by Seemandhra and Telangana employees for several days.

Seemandhra employees are staging daily protests to demand the central government rollback its decision while Telangana employees are demanding immediate tabling of bill in parliament for formation of separate state.

Police Friday imposed restrictions in Vidyut Soudha premises to avert any clash between the agitating employees.

Police had Sunday arrested 11 lawyers from Telangana for disrupting a meeting by Seemandhra lawyers.
