A Delhi court has sentenced two men to five years in jail for attempting to kill their sister's mother-in-law.

Additional Sessions Judge Sanjay Sharma Tuesday sentenced Gul Mohmad alias Gullu, 28, and Ali Mohmad, 26, to five years rigorous imprisonment for attempting to kill 45-year- old Samina, who is the mother-in-law of their sister Shabana.

The court also imposed a fine of Rs.5,000 on each of the convicts.

According to the prosecution, Gul and Ali fired gun shots at Samina in east Delhi's Yamuna Vihar Dec 13, 2009. The woman suffered two superficial lacerations on the scapular region on the back side due to the gun shots.

The court held that both the men fired the gun shots with the intention to kill Samina.

The court also noted that Shabana was having a marital dispute with her husband and his family.

Samina told the court that there was a case pending before a court between Shabana and her family. Shabana is living separately.
