Two teenage sisters who wrote a letter in their own blood to Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav seeking justice for their dead mother, met him here on Saturday.
The girls, Latika and Tanya Bansal from Bulandshahr, had written the letter alleging that their mother Annu Bansal was burnt alive on June 14 by their father and paternal grandparents and the local police did not pay any heed to their complaint.
Annu succumbed to her injuries six days later.
Moved by the letter, the Chief Minister ordered the Bulandshahr SSP and other senior officials to visit Latika and Tanya's house and get a first hand account of the whole case. Thereafter, he invited them to his official residence.
Latika and Tanya, escorted by their maternal uncle and maternal grandmother met Akhilesh for over 30 minutes. The chief minister assured them of all possible help and justice.
He also said the two girls will be given a compensation of Rs 5 lakh each, a flat and announced that the expenses of their studies would be borne by the state government.
He also offered a government job to the maternal uncle and proposed to bear the expenses of their maternal grandmother's treatment who is suffering from cancer.
After the meeting, Latika said she was satisfied by the action being taken.
