Two minor students were killed and eight others injured when the minibus in which they were commuting collided with a truck on the Nandepera bypass, near Wani, here on Thursday, police said.

The victims have been identified as Shraddha P. Hulke and Gaurav Y. Devurkar, both aged 14. They were studying in Macaroon Students Academy in Wani.

The eight students in the mini-bus who were injured have been rushed to a hospital in Chandrapur and the condition of four of them is stated to be critical.

As the accident occurred on the busy Nandepera bypass road and there are no trauma care centres nearby, the injured had to be taken to far-off hospitals, said Vidarbha Jan Andolan Samiti president Kishore Tiwari.
