Two young boys died, while another fractured his leg on Thursday when a speeding truck rammed their two-wheeler here on Thursday, police said, adding the accused driver was arrested from the spot.
Police said the incident occurred in west Delhi around 1 p.m when Firoz, 17, Monu, 15 and Rohit, 16, residents of Sagarpur area, were triple-riding on a scooty.
"A speeding truck rammed them while they were riding on scooty on the wrong lane. A passerby informed police and the three were taken to the nearby Deen Dayal Upadhyaya hospital, where Firoz and Monu were declared dead, while the injured Rohit was admitted for treatment," said Deputy Commissioner of Police Milind Mahadeo Dumbere.
"During investigation, it was found that they skipped their school and were enjoying a ride on Firoz's scooty. Monu was driving the scooty. They were not wearing helmets," the officer said.
