Interior Minister Magdi Abdel Ghaffar has ordered an investigation to determine the identity of the assailants, the source added.
The Sinai-based Ansar Bayt al-Maqdis, which has recently pledged allegiance to the Islamic State (IS) Sunni radical group, claims responsibility for most of the anti-government attacks.
