Typhoon Megi, the 17th of this year, is expected to make landfall in China's Fujian and Guangdong provinces next week, weather officials said on Saturday.
As of 5 a.m. Saturday, the storm centre was located about 1,780 km to the southeast of Taitung in Taiwan on the Pacific Ocean, packing wind of up to 23 metres per second, Xinhua news agency reported.
Megi will head northwest at 20 km per hour to reach the Chinese mainland on September 28, the NMC forecasted.
Meanwhile, heavy rains will lash northern and northeastern China over the coming three days.
