At least two people were killed and 91 injured Tuesday as typhoon Vongfong made landfall in southern Japan, media reported.

Typhoon Vongfong made landfall twice in Japan Monday in Kagoshima prefecture in the southwest and Osaka prefecture in the west and passed inland of Tokyo, causing extensive disruption to airports and railways, Japan Times reported.

Local governments issued evacuation advisories to 1.76 million people nationwide.

Vongfong comes barely a week after the Phanfone typhoon ravaged the Japanese archipelago and left nine people dead, three of them in Okinawa, and three still missing.
