Abu Dhabi, March 17 (IANS/WAM) The United Arab Emirates (UAE) participated in a seminar organised by the Arab Commission for Human Rights (ACHR) at the headquarters of the General Secretariat of the Arab League in Cairo.
The seminar, under the theme "Human Dignity For All", was held on Monday to mark Arab Human Rights Day, which falls on March 16.
The one-day seminar discussed the theme of human dignity in international covenants on human rights.
The UAE delegation included Ahmed Mohammed Nakhira, director of the human rights department of the interior ministry; Abdul Rahman Jassim Al Dhahiri, ministry official; Hani bin Huwaidin, diplomat at the UAE Embassy in Cairo; and Mansour Al Jawaad, representative of the foreign ministry.
Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Jarwan, speaker of the Arab Parliament, stressed the importance of the symposium to contribute significantly to the development of the mechanisms of action and preserve human dignity in the Arab world, in addition to modernisation of the legislative system throughout the Arab world.
