UAE participates in Global Sustainable Transport Conference

Ashgabat, Nov 26 (IANS/WAM) Sheikh Sultan bin Tahnoun Al Nahyan, Member of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council, on Saturday led the UAE delegation to the first edition of the Global Sustainable Transport Conference.

The conference is being held from November 26-27 in cooperation with the United Nations in Turkmenistan's capital city Ashgabat.

It was started by Turkmenistan President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow with the participation of UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-Moon, heads of government, ministers, private sector and others.

Sheikh Sultan wished further progress, development and welfare to the Turkmen people.

The conference brings together key stakeholders from governments, the UN and other international organisations to engage in a dialogue that emphasises the integrated and cross-cutting nature of sustainable transport and its multiple roles in supporting the achievement of the SDGs.
